Croyde in North Devon is best known for its beach, Croyde Bay, and with its wide sheltered bay ideal for bathing and excellent surfing.
Croyde village is a charming little seaside village, with a variety of restaurants, shops and pubs in the area, along with it’s very own Post Office. Many parts of the village date back to the 17th Century and a lot of the buildings built in that time are still standing around the village today.
Croyde is home to one of the best surfboard and body board beaches in the South West, Croyde Bay. The beach is privately owned and has lifeguards patrols over the Summer Period. It is also, during summer season, cleaned daily from items washed up during the evening tide.
The village offers numerous options for accommodation to make your stay in North Devon an enjoyable one, no matter what time of year you visit.
Croyde is also home to the National Trusts Baggy Point and the surrounding land, these provide delightful walking with excellent views. Cycling, horse riding, golf and tennis are all available locally. The village is also very close to great other areas like Braunton, Saunton, Barnstaple and Woolacombe, providing all you need for a great holiday. You’re close to the Tarka Trail (in Braunton) to cycle around North Devon along the old Railway lines or have a walk on the North Devon Coastal path.
How to get to Croyde
Leave the M5 at junction 27 and follow the North Devon link road (A361) to Barnstaple. From Barnstaple continue along the A361 via the new bridge towards Braunton and Ilfracombe (signposted). Passing through Chivenor and Wrafton.
In the centre of Braunton village, turn left after 2nd set of traffic lights (the main cross road set) onto the B3231, signposted Saunton and Croyde. Continue along the B3231 coastal road to Croyde Village.

Supermarkets
Croyde has a small supermarket shop at the Unison Site, along with shops and Post Office in the main village.
Braunton has a Tesco’s, Coop and all the great local shops including the famous butchers on South Street
Petrol / Diesel
Braunton has two main petrol stations
1) The first roundabout as you enter Braunton on the right hand side
2) The second is on the left as you near the centre of the village
Public Toilets
Croyde has public toilets in the main village, in between the Village Hall and Croyde Motors
Braunton has public toilets in the main Car Park on the Road out to Saunton on the left heading out toward Croyde
Medical and Hospital
Braunton is the nearest Doctors – your main one being Caen Medical Centre
Barnstaple is your nearest Hospital, which also has a major A&E Department. Follow the signs into Barnstaple and then to the Hospital
